Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Shelf is a clipboard manager for macOS developed by Fatih Sen. This policy explains how Shelf handles your data.
Summary
Shelf does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of your data with us or any third party. Everything Shelf reads from your clipboard stays on your Mac.
Data Collection
Shelf does not collect any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports
- Device identifiers
- Network requests of any kind
- Account information (Shelf has no account system)
Local Data Storage
Shelf stores clipboard history exclusively on your local device under your user account's Application Support directory. This data never leaves your Mac.
The history may contain anything you copy, including text, links, images, colors, and file references. You are responsible for the contents of your clipboard. You can clear the history at any time from the Shelf menu bar icon or settings window.
Permissions
Shelf requests the following macOS permissions:
- Accessibility — required to register the global hotkey and paste the selected item into the active application. Shelf uses this permission solely for these features and does not read other applications' contents.
You can revoke these permissions at any time from System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Third-Party Services
Shelf does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics platforms.
Children's Privacy
Shelf does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via the project's GitHub releases page.
